Fall Out: The Invisible War

Fall Out: The Invisible War is a powerful documentary podcast series exploring the unseen casualties of service - the psychological, emotional and familial fallout that can follow war, trauma and a life spent protecting others. Through the lived experience of veteran and former police officer Stuart Buchanan, the series takes listeners from the foundations of military life through to the long shadow service can cast. Beginning with the rigors of basic and infantry training, Fall Out traces Stuart’s journey through multiple deployments, the intensity of operational service, and the experiences that shaped him - and wounded him. It follows the often-unspoken transition from soldier to civilian, and Stuart’s remarkable pivot from the Australian Army to the Queensland Police Service, entering the Police Academy and trading a “kill or capture” mindset for one of “serve and protect.”

Along the way, the series examines PTSD, hypervigilance, moral injury and the ripple effects trauma can have on families and identity. But it is also a story of courage, recovery and purpose - and of why speaking out matters. This is an ode to Australia’s servicemen and women, veterans and first responders, and to support communities like the North Queensland Reeling Veterans, who remind us healing is often found in connection. Fall Out: The Invisible War goes beyond the battlefield to reveal the hidden war many continue to fight long after the uniform comes off. You can find Stu's book Dragon Rising on Amazon.
